PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent air bubbles from being mixed into an ink head, when an ink cartridge is mounted; to dispense with electric power; and to dispense with or downsize a waste liquid tank for recovering waste ink, which is required in the mounting of an ink cartridge. SOLUTION: This ink cartridge 32 comprises an ink chamber 50 which is subjected to lower pressure than an outside of the ink cartridge 32, and ink which is infilled into the ink chamber 50, and a negative pressure chamber 62 which is subjected to lower pressure than the outside of the ink cartridge 32 and which is used for recovering the waste ink discharged from the ink head 30. A printer 10 comprises an ink head 30 which emits a jet of ink supplied from the ink cartridge 32 and which feeds the waste ink to the negative pressure chamber 62, a first connection part 44 which supplies the ink to the ink head 30, a cap 36 which airtightly covers all nozzles 40 for emitting the jet of ink, in the state of abutting on the ink head 30, and a second connection part 70 which makes the inside of the negative pressure chamber 62 communicate with that of the cap 36.
