<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine ignition device which basically executes soft ignition for normal operation, and is capable of executing ignition in optimum timing corresponding to an angular velocity of an engine even when the rotating speed of the engine returns to a low-speed range, thus capable of preventing engine stalling, reverse rotation etc. <P>SOLUTION: The engine ignition device includes a charging/discharging capacitor 7 which is charged with an output current from a source coil 4, a charge/discharge switching element 8 which when switched on, causes the charging/discharging capacitor 7 to discharge electric charges through an ignition coil 3, and an ignition time controller 14 having a soft ignition unit 18 which calculates the rotating speed of the engine, based on the periods of mutually corresponding preceding and following input waveforms from the source coil 4, and causes the charging/discharging switching element 8 to switch on at ignition timing corresponding to the rotating speed of the engine. The ignition timing controller 14 is provided with a hard ignition unit 17 which when the rotating speed of the engine returns to a low-speed range following soft ignition executed by the soft ignition unit 18, causes the charging/discharging switching element 8 to switch on to execute return hard ignition based on two input waveforms from the source coil 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
