<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission for a vehicle in which relative movement in an axial direction and relative rotation of a thrust washer into which a shaft is inserted between two idling gears adjacent are restrained by a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: An annular groove Aoa of a V shape is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the shaft Ao between the two idling gears adjacent in the axial direction and splines are formed on the outer circumference of the shaft Ao. Splines are formed on the inner circumferential surface of the thrust washer Q and through-holes Qa which penetrate in the radial direction are each formed at multiple positions in the circumferential direction of the thrust washer Q. A ball R is press fitted and fixed into each through-hole Qa and the inner part in the radial direction of each ball R is engaged with the annular groove Aoa of the shaft Ao. Thereby, the relative movement in the axial direction of the thrust washer Q is restricted. In addition, the splines of the shaft Ao and those of the thrust washer Q are fitted to each other.
