The drive train (10) has a summing gearbox (12) for torque conversion. A drive shaft (26) is connected to the summing gearbox to initiate a torque in the summing gearbox. The shaft is connected with combustion engines (16, 42) such that amount of torque generated by the engines is branched into the summing gearbox through respective variation gearboxes (30, 54) connected with the shaft. The engines are uncoupled through respective engine clutches (18, 44). The variation gearboxes are connected with the shaft for receiving torque. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a drive train.
