[Class 105.] A normally open train-operated electric con. tact device comprises a member set into independent periodic movement by kinetic energy briefly applied by the train reaching a selected point, the member being immediately free to return to its original condition, when the energy is dissipated, and effecting the closure of the contact only during the time that it is in motion to a predetermined extent. The electric switch device shown in the Figure is enclosed in a casing 1 mounted adjacent the rails and is actuated by rail deflection causing a lug 6, fixed on the rail between two chairs, to depress a lever 4 the long arm 8 of which swings a parallellogram linkage 10, 12, 14 to the left whereby a pendulum 19 freely suspended from the horizontal link 14 is set into oscillation and while the amplitude of motion is sufficient intermittently closes spring contacts 21, 22 fixed on the horizontal link 14.
