Described is a device for the outer inspection of pipes having a body with a magnetic traction arrangement located at the lower portion thereof and at least a monitoring device mounted in the body; where the magnetic traction arrangement includes at least two magnetic wheels formed by: a circular-shaped magnet; a cover toothed at the circumference thereof which is adjacent to one of the surfaces of the magnet; and a lid with at least a couple of notches in the circumference thereof located in the opposite surface of the magnet; where each pair of magnetic wheels are located in an inverse configuration, therefore the toothed cover of each magnetic wheel being arranged in an opposite manner; the traction arrangement includes at least a magnet located forward the magnetic wheels.
