A down-hole mixing tool for sand removal

A mixing tool 10 comprising two tubular members 16, 18 arranged one inside the other to form a chamber 26 between them. The tool is connected to a tubular string by the up-hole end 20 and the down-hole end 22 includes one or more inlets 24 allowing fluid into the chamber between the inner 16 and outer 18 tubular members. The inner tubular 16 has one or more treatment ports 28 allowing treatment fluid to be pumped through the inner tubular and into the chamber. The outer tubular 18 has outlets ports 32 allowing fluid to exit the tool. The down-hole end is tapered and includes one or more blades 54. The tool is placed in a wellbore and rotated, this directs sand 14 towards the inlets 24 and into the chamber 26, treatment fluid is introduced into the chamber to lower the viscosity of the fluid in the chamber, the fluid is released from the tool back into the wellbore through the outlets 32.
