<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve discharge efficiency in high pressure gas, and to reduce the size and weight. <P>SOLUTION: This airbag device includes an inflator 2, an airbag for inflating and deploying by supplying the high pressure gas injected from the inflator 2 when operating the inflator 2, and a housing 1 arranged around the inflator 2 and introducing the high pressure gas inside the airbag. The housing 1 is formed in an elliptic shape in a cross section so that a cross-sectional shape can be deformed in a substantially circular shape by the high pressure gas injected from the inflator 2 when operating the inflator 2. Since the cross-sectional area of the housing increases when operating the inflator 2, the discharge efficiency of the high pressure gas is improved. In addition, since a height of a cross section is small when mounted on a vehicle, the size can be reduced.
