<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron having an ironing surface resistant to wear and scratch without impairing slidability. <P>SOLUTION: In an iron provided with a base 3, an ironing surface member 4 having an ironing surface 43 and a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating 44 formed thereon is provided on the base 3, so that the surface hardness of the ironing surface 43 is enhanced considerably and the ironing surface 43 is resistant to wear and scratch. Thereby, an iron excellent in wear resistance and scratch resistance can be provided. The ironing surface member 4 consists of a heat conductive metal plate. By using aluminum or copper for the metal plate, a temperature difference relative to the base 3 hardly occurs and it is possible to make the temperature of the ironing surface 43 approximately the same as a set temperature of the iron. In this manner, temperature changes of the ironing surface 43 are reduced to favorably smoothen wrinkles of clothing when ironing. Further, by using aluminum or copper for the metal plate of an excellent heat conductivity for consisting of the ironing surface member 4, it is possible to provide an iron excellent in wear resistance and scratch resistance at low cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
