<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for recording and playing data containing multiple recording layers of a dedicated recording layer of which data is read out and rewritable recording layer, which reduces users' load by automatically determining a recording layer to access based on whether or not update data exists. <P>SOLUTION: When update data exists on a rewritable recording layer, all the update data is stored on the rewritable recording layer so that a device for recording and playing data only needs to access the rewritable recording layer. An user specifies whether or not update data exists when inserting a disk and the device for recording and playing data keeps the information on whether or not update data exists so as to automatically chose to access the rewritable recording layer afterward when started. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
