<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool for covering and forming a composite hard film for exhibiting excellent adhesion, sticking strength, tenacity, thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance, in cutting work of an iron-based material such as steel and cast iron. <P>SOLUTION: The surface-coated cutting tool which has a surface of a tool base body formed and covered with an intermediate layer constituted of the composite hard film of WC and TiN and an upper layer constituted of the composite hard film of TiN and cBN, has a composition inclined structure of becoming high in the WC inclusion ratio on the tool base body side of the intermediate layer (optimally, WC/(WC+TiN)=0.6-0.9, in terms of the volume ratio) and becoming high in the TiN inclusion ratio on the upper layer side (optimally, TiN/(WC+TiN)=0.7-0.9, in terms of the volume ratio), and also has a composition inclined structure of becoming high in the TiN inclusion ratio on the intermediate layer side of the upper payer and becoming high in the cBN inclusion ratio on the surface layer side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
