<p>In an elevator apparatus, a car is moved inside a hoistway. A speed governor includes: a rotating shaft that rotates in response to movement of the car; a centrifugal weight that revolves around the rotating shaft together with the rotation of the rotating shaft; an extensible arm that links the centrifugal weight to the rotating shaft, and that is displaced relative to the rotating shaft in response to a centrifugal force to which the centrifugal weight is subjected due to the revolution; and a displacement setting apparatus that extends and retracts the extensible arm to set a length of the extensible arm to different lengths during normal rotation and during reverse rotation of the rotating shaft. The speed governor detects presence or absence of an abnormality in a speed of the car based on the displacement of the extensible arm relative to the rotating shaft.</p> |
