A method and a device for setting a graph password of a communication terminal are disclosed to solve the problem that the safety of the traditional character is lower, the method involves: in the case of receiving setting graph password instruction of the user and judging that the character password has not been set before, a graph interface with multiple loading pictures is generated, where each loading picture is randomly filled in a corresponding grid of a two-dimensional grid of the graph interface; the picture identification (ID) and a coordinate value are acquired for setting a graph password through selecting at least one loading picture in the graph interface as the corresponding picture of the graph password; the picture ID and the coordinate value for setting the graph password are converted into a character password and stored to finish the graph password setting. The application increases the complexity of the password and ensures the safety of the password using utilizing the picture ID and the coordinate value of the picture in the grid as the password. |
