PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the occurrence amount and occurrence period of color shift due to belt misalignment by contact/release operations of a contact/release member.SOLUTION: An image forming device includes: a belt onto which a toner image formed on at least one of a plurality of photoreceptors is transferred; the contact/release member which is in contact with and released from the belt at predetermined timing and includes at least one of the plurality of photoreceptors; a widthward position detecting means which detects the edge position of the belt in the width direction perpendicular to the moving route of the belt; and a widthward position moving means. The image forming device further includes: a first control means which controls the widthward position moving means so that the edge of the belt should be at a target position; a second control means which controls the widthward position moving means so that the belt position should reach the target position at a speed lower than a widthward moving speed predefined by the belt position after contact/release operations of the contact/release member; and an image forming means which controls forming of a latent image onto the plurality of photoreceptors so that the toner image is transferred onto the belt after operation of the second control means. |
