<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection device which cuts off a voltage applied to an electronic apparatus, and maintains the voltage cutoff state to prevent a damage to the electronic apparatus due to overvoltage application when detecting an overvoltage applied to an electronic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The overvoltage protection device keeps an always-open power relay 2 ON, the power relay 2 turning on and off an AC power source 1, through an operating switch SW3 that excites the power relay 2 and a holding relay 4 that continue the excitation, and turns off the power relay 2 through a control means 6 which turns off the holding relay 4 when determining that a voltage detected by a voltage detecting means 7 is higher than a given voltage.
