HYDROLYSIS APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR USING SAME

Disclosed is a hydrolysis apparatus that generates hydrogen and oxygen at separate electrodes. Specifically disclosed are a hydrolysis apparatus having a structure for effectively carrying out a photocatalytic reaction and a method for using the same. This hydrolysis apparatus has a photolytic element having an N type hydrolysis electrode surface and a P type hydrolysis electrode surface on the surface of the reverse side thereof; a hydrogen generation cell that accommodates the N type hydrolysis electrode surface and collects hydrogen generated thereon; and an oxygen generation cell that accommodates the P type hydrolysis electrode surface, collects oxygen generated thereon and is adjacent to the hydrogen generation cell through the photolytic element. The photolytic element in this hydrolysis apparatus has through holes such that water circulation is possible between the hydrogen generation cell and oxygen generation cell, and the through holes are disposed so as not to allow transmission of light made incident for decomposing water to the hydrolysis electrode surface on the reverse side.
