NANOCOMPOSITE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nanocomposite having a high refractive index without impairing the transmittance of an organic polymer being a matrix of the nanocomposite. SOLUTION: The method for producing a nanocomposite composed of an organic polymer and a metal oxide nanoparticle dispersed in the organic polymer includes a step of adding the metal oxide nanoparticle and a polyvalent carboxylic acid as a dispersant to a solvent and modifying the surface of the metal oxide nanoparticle with the polyvalent carboxylic acid to thereby disperse the metal oxide nanoparticle in the solvent and produce a dispersion of metal oxide nanoparticle and a step of adding a compound having a functional group which can form a bond with the polyvalent carboxylic acid to the dispersion of metal oxide nanoparticle and reacting an excess of the polyvalent carboxylic acid which has not been used for the surface modification of the metal oxide nanoparticle over the polyvalent carboxylic acid required in the previous step with the compound to thereby produce the organic polymer.
