PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, capable of setting an appropriate power saving condition according to a state of paper empty when it is generated, thus achieving power saving according to the state. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus detects the type of paper housed in a paper feeder, such as a paper feed cassette for feeding paper to the image forming apparatus and when it is detected that the paper housed in the paper feed cassette is used up, the image forming apparatus changes the condition of power saving afterward according to the type of paper use up and performs fine power saving.
