PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of enabling easy positioning of each of a plurality of heads in an image forming apparatus which forms an image on a recording medium by ejection liquids ejected from the plurality of heads. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes the plurality of heads which include a reference head with a section to be positioned and each eject the ejection liquids to the recording medium; a head base which has plural head positioning sections on which the plural heads are respectively mounted to be positioned, whereon a reference head positioning section to be mounted with the reference head in cooperation with the section to be positioned of the reference head performs positioning at a degree of freedom of position adjustment lower than that of other head positioning sections; and a conveying unit which conveys the recording medium to a position opposed to the head base.
