<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a fuel cell power generation system so as to maximize the amount of reduction in consumed energy and the amount of reduction in carbon dioxide emission while suppressing an operation time. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell power generation system 1 makes hydrogen react with oxygen to generate power and supply heat based on a predetermined operation pattern, generates power within a first maximum operation time per unit time based on life prediction in a target life period, and calculates a difference between a target operation time within the life period and a target operation time until a predetermined period. When assuming the operation time of 40,000 hours in the life period of ten years, for example, if the operation time is 3,000 hours when one year passes, operation is possible for 37,000 hours in the remaining nine years.
