PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radial tire for a heavy load having a small flat ratio among pneumatic tires having circumferential belt layers excellent in durability. SOLUTION: In an outer peripheral side of a crown area of a carcass 5 extending in a toroidal between a pair of bead parts 3, the two layers of circumferential belt layers 8a and 8b extending in the circumferential direction of a tread and two layers of inclined belt layers 9a and 9b extending and inclined to the circumferential direction of the tread and having belt cords intersecting between the layers are sequentially arranged from an inside in the radial direction. In an outer peripheral side of the inclined belt layers 9a and 9b, a tread rubber 7 is arranged. A width w<SB>0</SB>of the circumferential belt layers 8a and 8b is set to a range 60 to 85% of a tire width W and a width w<SB>1</SB>of an intersecting area of the belt cords of the inclined belt layers 9a and 9b is set to a range 65 to 90% of the tire width W. A modulus of tensile elasticity of cords of the circumferential belt layers 8a and 8b in a central area a in the direction of width of the circumferential belt layers is larger than that in a side area c, and that in an intermediate area b sandwiched between the central area a and the side area c is larger than that in the central area a.
