799,228. Hydraulic machines; valves. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. March 29, 1956 [March 30, 1955], No. 9255/55. Addition to 710,569. Classes 69 (2) and 135. When several valve assemblies 1, 1a, 1b, as described in the parent Specification, are connected in series the stem of each valve 16 in all the valve assemblies except the last (1b) is provided with a piston 35 in a cylinder 36, each cylinder being connected by a passage 37 to the space 24 of the following valve assembly. This arrangement ensures that when any one valve assembly is operated by its rocker member 26, an increase in pressure in the space 24 will act on the underside of pistons 35 in the preceding valve assemblies and maintain the corresponding non-return valves closed, thereby preventing machines connected to the outlets 4 of the preceding valve assemblies from operating.
