Provided are a novel epidermal growth factor receptor variant - EGFRvA protein, a polynucleotide encoding the EGFRvA protein and a method of preparing the EGFRvA protein via recombination technology. Also provided is a use of the polynucleotide encoding the EGFRvA protein. The EGFRvA protein has a function of promoting tumor cell invasion or promoting tumor cell migration.
