PURPOSE: A portable terminal and mobile IP management method in a portable terminal are provided to request mobile IP return for performing a data communication service irrelevant for the location of a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: Whether the data communication mode completion is an abnormal completion or not is determined if a data communication mode is completed(930). If the data communication mode is the abnormal completion, it writes a mobile IP return message for returning a mobile IP(940). The mobile IP return message is transmitted through an access channel(950).
