PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media apparatus for reproducing recorded audio or video in a correct direction even when the direction in recording or in reproduction is changed by a user, to provide a method of controlling the same, and to provide a program.

SOLUTION: A plurality of microphones 13 are disposed while being separated from one another. A detection unit 14 detects the direction of the media apparatus itself. An audio signal allocation section 200 allocates audio signals acquired from the plurality of microphones 13 to a plurality of audio channels on the basis of the detection result of the detection unit 14. A storage unit 17 records the audio signals allocated by the audio signal allocation section 200.
