PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material for distillation, having improved performance and low production cost. SOLUTION: The packing material 1 for distillation, for use in a distillation method, is obtained by curling a flat metallic thin wire 11 into a coiled shape to manufacture a metallic coiled body 10 and forming a molded product 12 having desired size and shape from the metallic coiled body. In other words, the packing material 1 comprises the molded product. A stainless steel-made thin wire is adopted as the metallic thin wire 11.
