PURPOSE: A remote control system for a refrigerator and a control method therefor are provided to monitor the operating state of a refrigerator continuously and individually observe and manage states of components of the refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: A remote control system for a refrigerator comprises a refrigerator controller(10), a serial device server(20), and a management server(30). The refrigerator controller is attached to individual components of the refrigerator. The refrigerator controller is connected to a wireless and wired sensor communications terminal(300). The serial device server loads data of the controller to a wired and wireless network(100) including the Internet network. The serial device server transfers a control command input through a management server of a user and an administrator to the controller. The management server collects data through the wired and wireless network. The management server indicates the collected data on a monitor screen. The management server generates a signal indicating the state of the refrigerator based on an abnormality signal and a warning signal generated in the refrigerator.
