PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate determining a wear level without increasing complexity of forming a tire.

SOLUTION: A tire tread for a vehicle tire projects from a bottom of the tread and has at least one tread element having a defined tread depth, and the at least one tread element has a first hole and a first outer cross-sectional shape that is constant for a first depth. A molding device for forming a tread wear indicator on the tread has a mold blade including a first solid portion having a defined depth and a cross-sectional shape that is constant for the defined depth.
