PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup unit which enables a prism to be smoothly replaced and provides focused image information. SOLUTION: The image pickup unit 1 includes: a prism unit 5 internally holding a prism 9; a casing 3 in which a prism inserting section 23 is formed to/from which the prism unit 5 can be attached/removed, and to which measuring light is incident from the outside; two or more image pickup elements 7a, 7b built in the casing 3 and provided at such positions as to receive the measuring light split by the prism 9; and a moving mechanism 29 for making at least one image pickup element 7a, among the two or more image pickup elements 7a, 7b, movable along an optical axis of the split measuring light.
