The drive has a hydraulic pump (1) for conveying volumetric flow that is distributed to multiple closed hydraulic sub-circuits (T1, T2). Each sub-circuit comprises a hydraulic motor combination that is provided with an adjustable hydraulic motor and a fixed hydraulic motor, where the motors operate drive shafts of synchronous generators. A controller sets drive torque of the drive shafts such that torque equilibrium exists between a rotor (19) and the synchronous generators during parallel operation of the drive with a network. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hydrostatic drive.
