摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simple and efficient production of high purity 9,9-bis(3-fluoro-4-aminophenyl)fluorene with reduced discoloration. SOLUTION: The 9,9-bis(3-fluoro-4-aminophenyl)fluorene represented by formula (I) is produced by subjecting fluorenone and 2-fluoroaniline to condensation reaction in an inert atmosphere in the presence of an acid catalyst and subsequently conducting decoloring treatment. The obtained 9,9-bis(3-fluoro-4-aminophenyl)fluorene not only gives a polymer excellent in heat resistance, high flexural properties, and low birefringence but also remarkably improves transparency and is very useful as a raw material of a resin such as polyamide and polyimide for optical applications.
