The friction wheel drive has two or more friction wheels (101,103) which are arranged on the opposite side of a guide, and are driven by a traction mechanism (106). The friction wheels are pivoted such that the contact pressure is detected for different loading conditions by the forces of the traction mechanism and by the drive force. The friction wheels and the course of the traction mechanism are so arranged that the contact pressure increases with increasing load.
