PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form dimples efficiently on a hollow and cylindrical article without deteriorating the cylindrical accuracy. SOLUTION: A device for forming a dimple is composed of a pressing part 10 including a table 11 and a slide 12, and a die part 20 which is placed on the table 11. The die part 20 includes: a base 21; an inner die 30 to the outside of which the article P is fit; a supporting mechanism 22 by which the inner die 30 is supported so as to be rockable in an erecting state and a falling-down state; an outer die 40 which is fit to the outside of the article P; and positioning members 50, 53 for positioning the inner die 30 and the outer die 40. The outer die 40 includes pressing bodies 43 which are inserted into through-holes 42 orthogonal to its inside and the inner die 30 includes forming holes 33 which are bored in the positions matching the pressing bodies 43. By setting the inner die 30, the article P and the outer die 40, making them fall down sideways in one body and, by lowering the slide 12, the article P is pressed by the lower end of the pressing body 43 and the dimples are formed.
