PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and driving method thereof are provided to selectively drive an RGBW liquid crystal display device in an RGB mode or an RGBW mode, thereby effectively displaying an image suitable for a purpose. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel comprises a pixel. A pixel includes R, G, B, W sub pixels. A driving mode selecting unit selects an RGB mode or an RGBW mode as a driving mode. An RGBW mode signal generating unit(420) compensates for a color feeling for R, G, B input data. The RGBW mode signal generating unit generates R, G, B, W data. An output controller(430) compensates for the gamma for the R,G,B,W data. The output controller outputs W data. The W data includes a value for turning a W sub pixel off. |
