<p>A method of charging addition materials into a vacuum vessel of a steel vacuum degassing apparatus including an auxiliary charging chamber provided with an upper seal gate at its charging opening and a lower seal gate for controlling discharge of material into the vacuum vessel, comprising closing the lower seal gate to isolate the vacuum vessel from the auxiliary charging chamber, venting the auxiliary charging chamber to atmosphere and opening the upper seal gate to introduce material into the chamber closing the upper seal gate and reducing the pressure in the chamber until the pressure therein is equal to that in the vacuum vessel and opening the lower seal gate to introduce the material into the vessel.</p> |
