<p>An injection valve for injecting fuel into a working chamber of an internal combustion engine includes a valve seat on the working chamber and a valve needle movable relative to the valve seat between a closed position and an open position. The valve seat has an inner tapered surface and the valve needle has an outer tapered surface, such that, when in the open position, the inner tapered surface of the valve seat and the outer tapered surface of the valve needle define a flow passage that decreases in diameter toward the working chamber. The valve needle terminates at an atomizing surface. The atomizing surface is at an angle of between 45 and 135 degrees relative to the outer tapered surface, and the flow passage directs the fuel onto the atomizing surface.</p> |
