1505292 Dialyser cartridge with supported membrane BELLCO SpA 2 April 1975 [10 April 1974] 13416/75 Heading B1X A roll-type dialyser cartridge for extracorporeal artificial kidneys, the cartridge comprising a casing, a support element positioned in the casing and formed by an elongate web of plastics material sheet spirally wound, both sides of the web being provided with projections distributed in aligned arrangement to provide spaces between the projections defining fluid flow passages for dialysing liquid (Fig. 2), the aligned arrangement of projections on one side of the web defining a first plurality of parallel direction lines and the aligned arrangement of the projections on the other side defining a second plurality of parallel direction lines, a flattened tubular dialyser membrane substantially coextensive with the support element and disposed around turns thereof between one side of the web and the other side of a subsequent turn of the web, at least part of the first directional lines being arranged at an angle with respect to the second directional lines so that they cross each other and at least some of the projections on one side of the web abut, with the interposition of the membrane, against projections on the other side of the web to prevent embedding of the projections on one side of the web in the spaces between the projections on the other side (Fig. 3). Alternatively, the support element has two parallel spiral surfaces respectively provided with first and second projections distributed in aligned arrangement on their surfaces. |
