The damper (1) has two damping elements (2), where one of the damping elements receives kinetic energy of a gate leaf (9). The other damping element is coupled with the former damping element by a common catch element (3) such that the kinetic energy is receivable by the two damping elements. The damping elements are designed as a pneumatic damping element and arranged in a parallel manner, where the damper cooperates with a coupling element. The coupling element comprises an axle receptacle (10) and a wheel (11) that cooperates with guide rails (7). An independent claim is also included for a swiveling gate.
