Method for producing/renovating a window with one or more window units, especially in older buildings, where each window unit has a window casement 1 which opens inwards or outwards and supports a glass pane which is secured by glass clips or putty, which window casement bears against a rabbet 2a in the window frame 2, 3. In this method, each movable or fixed window casement 1 is provided with a single-layer or multi-layer extra pane 8 of the same height and width as the window casement after the old holders and lock fittings such as locking hooks or anchoring elements have been removed. The extra pane 8 is releasably connected to the window casement 1 by means of a hinge member 13 mounted on the side 1a which lies opposite the hinged side of the window casement 1. The extra pane is also secured by means of at least one securing fixture 5, 10, 11 which is intended to hold the extra pane 8 against the window casement 1 when the latter is opened or closed, which securing fixture is releasably connected facing the hinge member 13. The extra pane 8 can therefore be swung away from the window casement 1 in order to allow cleaning of the glass panes between the extra pane 8 and the window casement 1. After cleaning, the extra pane 8 can be closed. A sealing strip 12 is mounted either in or near the rabbet 2a in the window frame in order to form a stop surface for the extra pane after the depth of the rabbet 2a in the frame 2, 3 has been increased, for example by milling or sawing. The heat insulation of the window can therefore be considerably improved without affecting the visual impression of the exterior of the building. <IMAGE> |
