The door sections (1-5) are coupled together and can be swung about an upright axle via folding links (18). A drive mechanism is used to move the doors sideways between a closed position in which the ship interior (11) is sealed against incoming water, and an open position. A guide (29) is provided for assisting sideways movement of the doors, and anchor fixtures are used to fix the doors in position when closed. A height adjustment mechanism allows the doors to be moved between a raised position and a lowered position. The doors can be moved sideways when raised, and when they are lowered they are in contact with the anchor fixtures. |
