Device and method of distributing and forwarding requirements to a number of web servers in an industrial automation system

The device (E) has web servers (WS1-WS3) addressable by a local address and by a port number. The device evaluates destination uniform resource locators (URLs) of received requests where each of the received requests comprises a host header. Server addressing components of the destination URLs are identical. A path component of one destination URL of each request defines one of the web servers. The device forwards each request to the defined web server. The web servers are installed on a common hardware platform (HW). An independent claim is also included for a method for distributing and forwarding requests to a set of web servers in an industrial automation arrangement.
