A method and a system for implementing identifier to locator mapping are provided. Multiple IP (Internet Protocol) addresses can be assigned to one UE (User Equipment). During the communication, UE can change the current used IP address through ILMU-FE (ID/locator mapping update function entity) AND ILM-FE (Id-loc-split mapping function entity), so that the host multihoming in the IPSPLIT network is enabled, and the problem of using multiple IP addresses at the same time or using different IP addresses at different times is solved.
