<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that makes service life of an intermediate transfer belt longer. <P>SOLUTION: A multifunctional machine 100 performs exposure on a photoreceptor drum 121 on the basis of the detection of a reference mark 4M provided to the endless intermediate transfer belt 125A and transfers a toner image corresponding to a formed latent image onto the intermediate transfer belt 125A.
