PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine which has a therapeutic effect and a preventive effect on Trypanosoma, Leishmania, Malaria disease, and the like and has an excellent antiprotozoal action. SOLUTION: Curcumin is a natural polyphenol abundantly included in an underground stem of turmeric (Curcuma longa Linnaeus) which is a perennial herb, and is reported to pass through a blood brain barrier (BBB). An analog is synthesized by using curcumin as a leading compound to obtain a curcumin analog having high anti-trypanosomal activity represented by formula (1), wherein R1 to R10 may be the same or different and independently represent a group selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, a nitro group, an alkoxy group, an alkoxy-alkoxy group, an alkoxy-alkoxy-alkoxy group, and an azidoalkoxy group, or the two adjacent substituents together form an alkylenedioxy group or an alkylene group.
