PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold-cathode discharge lamp in which lifetime characteristics are improved in the case a gas pressure is set low. SOLUTION: In the cold-cathode discharge lamp equipped with a glass bulb 1 in which a discharge space 11 is formed inside, a discharge medium to contain rare gas such as neon-argon or the like sealed in the discharge space 11, and an electrode 33 installed in the discharge space 11, the pressure of the rare gas is 25 torr or less and the electrode 33 is constituted of nickel. In addition, the electrode 33 is cup-shaped, its inner surface area is 92 mm<SP>2</SP>or more, and it is desirable that a tubular current of 10 mA or more is supplied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
