<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery having a high capacity and superior battery characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous secondary battery, a positive electrode has a positive electrode mixture layer which contains a specific Li-contained transition metal oxide having Ni, Mn or the like as an essential constituent element, and a negative electrode has a negative electrode mixture layer which contains a material including Si and O as a constituent element (atomic ratio x of O against Si is 0.5≤x≤1.5) and graphite.
