<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a formal name corresponding to a recognized abbreviation, in determination of information related to a character recognized with a computer. <P>SOLUTION: An abbreviation acquisition unit 12 acquires an abbreviation of a proper noun from read document data. A candidate name extraction unit 14 extracts, from a proper noun storage unit 13 storing proper nouns, a proper noun including character information constituting the acquired abbreviation as a candidate name. A determination unit 15 detects a position in the candidate name where the character information constituting the abbreviation is used, and determines whether the candidate name is a formal name corresponding to the abbreviation in accordance with the position where the character information is used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
