摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine controller for a hybrid vehicle capable of reducing the pumping loss without putting cylinder(s) in pause. SOLUTION: The engine controller of the hybrid vehicle 50 equipped as driving sources with an engine 1 having a fuel supplying means 21 and a motor 51, with which a regenerative control of the motor 51 is conducted when the vehicle is in deceleration, wherein the configuration comprises valve timing varying mechanisms 26 and 27 capable of adjusting the valve timing of a suction valve 15 changeably, a fuel cut condition determining means 31 to determine whether the fuel cut conditions are met, a fuel supply stopping means 31 to stop the fuel supply from the fuel supplying means 21 after the fuel cut conditions are met, and a valve timing changing means 31 to change the valve timing of the suction valve 15 in the direction of reducing the pumping loss using the valve timing varying mechanisms 26 and 27 while the fuel supply is stopped.
