<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a high luminance and a simple structure with superior quality of images and high durability, and to provide a backlight unit which can give such liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit includes a light source support which supports a light source and has an aperture to emit light from the light source and a periphery which extends to the surrounding of the aperture, a compound optical member which is installed covering the aperture, a frame member, and an optical member supporting member which is installed on the frame member. The optical member supporting member is arranged so as to pinch the compound optical member in the gap between a surface opposed to the compound optical member of the optical member supporting member and the periphery of the light source member, and the surface opposed to the compound optical member of the optical member supporting member has a surface irregularities of an arithmetic average roughness of 0.5-20μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
