PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometer wherein a liquid sample is ionized, and a mass-charge ratio of generated ion is analyzed, which is a mass spectrometer capable of improving ionization efficiency, and performing highly sensitive analysis. SOLUTION: In this spectrometer, an atomization part for atomizing the liquid sample is separated from a high voltage application part for applying a high voltage to the atomized measuring sample to ionize it. The atomization part or the ionization part has a mechanism for sending a solution sample which is different from the measuring sample. Since the atomization part is separated from the ionization part, (1) misty liquid drops generated from the atomization part collide with ion sources to become finer, to thereby improve ionization efficiency, and (2) since the solution sample which is different from the measuring sample is mixed, ionization efficiency is improved by an ionization accelerator, for example, a low-concentration acid, or a solution sample having a known observation mass is mixed, and used as an internal standard for mass axis correction. Hereby, such an effect as improvement of measurement sensitivity or improvement of observation mass accuracy is acquired. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
